Are you struggling with pelvic pain or incontinence? These symptoms can profoundly affect your quality of life—but they can also be profoundly difficult to talk about due to stigma or embarrassment. As a result, many people suffer for years without seeking care.

Our Patients Get Great Results
“I went to Fitness Matters for physical therapy during and after my pregnancy. I had a great experience! They really helped me with some pain I was having during pregnancy and with c-section recovery. I also saw them for some knee pain, which they helped me fully resolve!”
– J.C.
Our Approach to Pelvic Health
Pelvic health physical therapy addresses dysfunction in the pelvic floor, a group of muscles at the base of the core that supports the bladder, bowels, and uterus (in women). When these muscles are too weak, tight, or uncoordinated, patients can experience challenging symptoms.
Our pelvic floor PTs have specialized training in the complexities of the pelvic floor, making them highly skilled at assessing and treating pelvic health concerns. Today, we want to highlight three areas of pelvic health that we can help address.
Postpartum Recovery: Support for Your Healing Body
Pregnancy and childbirth place significant stress on the pelvic floor. Even a healthy delivery can result in tissue damage, muscle weakness, and coordination issues. These changes often cause symptoms like:
- Pelvic heaviness or pressure
- Leaking urine with coughing, laughing, or movement (called stress incontinence)
- Lower back or hip pain
- Pain during intimacy
Fortunately, postpartum care is a significant part of our pelvic health services. We’ll work closely with you to restore strength and control of your delivery so you can focus on what matters–spending more time with your baby!
Treatment Techniques for Managing Postpartum Issues
- Scar tissue mobilization, if needed
- Manual therapy techniques to help ease tension
- Personalized core and pelvic floor strengthening exercises
- Postural training and tips on improving body mechanics
- Breathing techniques

Incontinence: Regain Control and Confidence

Urinary and bowel incontinence are some of the most difficult pelvic floor symptoms, affecting both men and women at any stage of life. Although they can be common, they are not something you have to accept as normal!
People experience incontinence in different ways. Many women develop stress incontinence, and people of both genders can experience urge incontinence, where you have a strong, overwhelming need to urinate. Regardless of your specific symptoms, we’ll work with you to improve pelvic floor strength, timing, and coordination.
Treatment Techniques for Addressing Incontinence
- Pelvic floor muscle training (beyond traditional “Kegels”)
- Core stability exercises to reduce abdominal pressure
- Bladder training and timed voiding techniques
- Behavioral changes such as fluid intake planning
What to Expect During Your Sessions
We believe pelvic health should be treated with the same care and attention as any other injury or condition. At your first visit, we’ll listen to your concerns and conduct a thorough assessment. That way, we can create a treatment plan personalized to your needs.
You’ll always receive:
- Ongoing support as you make progress
