Movement for Stress Management
QiGong is basically energy medicine. People started using it for its health benefits over 5,000 years ago. It is a self-care practice that focuses on 4 elements: breathing, movement, meditation and self-massage. I started studying and practicing QiGong and Tai Chi over 5 years ago with both local and national instructors. I have learned many things, of which most importantly, that we are both physical and energetic beings. We are body, mind and spirit. Health comes from healing all aspects of ourselves.
The Chinese word Qi is energy…well, it is more than energy but this is the easiest way to describe it. It is also the same word for breath. If you think about it, the more we breathe, the more energy we feel. In the basic science of energy production, glucose is broken down into energy only in the presence of oxygen (from breathing!). The Chinese word Gong means work or practice. So, QiGong is the practice of building energy and Tia Chi is the practice of moving energy…all for improving our physiological processes. Research has proven that this practice does many great things for our bodies.

Core Centering Practice is a type of QiGong/Tai Chi that focuses on balancing your autonomic nervous system for stress management. Through the Core Centering Program, you learn how to control the hypothalamus, which is the first structure to react in a stress response thereby stopping it before it stops you.
