MUSCLE ACTIVATION TECHNIQUES
The MAT process stimulates muscle and nerves at weak points in the body so they re-engage. The MAT specialist carefully applies pressure with fingers at very specific locations on the body. When muscles are properly balanced, they fire reliably. Joints become more stable and injuries are prevented. Your exercise and life can be pain-free.

Fall-Risk Physical Therapy
More than 1⁄3 of adults over the age of 65 experience falls in the United States. Of those falls, 20-30% result in moderate to severe injuries. Unexpected falls are one of the leading causes of injury, but physical therapy can help prevent them.
At Fitness Matters Worthington we can evaluate your fall-risk through a detailed assessment. There are multiple risk factors used to assess fall-risk. Some but not all include advanced age, living a sedentary life, fatigue, overall poor health and vertigo. We use our experience and screening tools to help guide you through the challenges you may face day to day.
We can help you practice movement techniques designed to help strengthen and support your body. Your Physical Therapist will determine your needs and openly communicate what your assessment shows, allowing you to make an informed decision on the best path forward.
Vestibular Therapy
At Fitness Matters Worthington, we provide vestibular therapy for our patients suffering from balance disorders. Balance disorders can refer to a broad range of conditions, but they are all connected by the effect they have on the vestibular system, also known as the inner ear.
Vestibular therapy, also referred to as vestibular rehabilitation, is conducted through a process of “adaptation and compensation.” This means that the vestibular system is actually being “reprogrammed” through both passive and active therapies to form connections with the brain on adjusting imbalances and regaining stability.
This physical therapy treatment works to improve your vision, nerves, muscles, and the vestibular system as a whole, in order to maintain a steady balance. If you are suffering from balance disorders, Worthington, OH physical therapists will provide you with specific exercises that will move the calcium debris to the correct parts of your ear.
BPPV Therapy
Common vestibular conditions resulting in balance disorders include: Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), which occurs when calcium debris breaks off in the inner ear causing issues with balance; neurological issues, which may include Parkinson’s disease, brain injury, or stroke; and injury or ailment where a sudden injury, disease, or other ailment causing muscle weakness can interfere with your balance and make it difficult to keep yourself upright
