Gyrotonic®
Gyrotonic equipment at Fitness Matters Grandview uses weights, pulleys and rotational discs, which adds variety and a multitude of levels of intensity. The machine facilitates your movements, but you do all the work. It is a complete system of exercise as it articulates your joints, stimulates the nervous system, increases range of motion, and improves the flow of energy through the body to build strength, stamina, and movement efficiency.
The breath is a key component of the Gyrotonic Expansion System. We use the sound and the rhythm of our breath in synchronization with unique exercises to create an uninterrupted flow, linking the movements together. At the end of a session or class, you’re left with an overall feeling of well-being
Many Fitness Matters Grandview clients who utilize Gyrotonics also play recreational sports, such as golf and tennis – and many of them have shoulder, hip, knee, or back trouble. Gyrotonic exercise allows them to move more effortlessly and with less pain. Our Gyrotonic Instructor will assess your capabilities and guide you through appropriate resistance profiles and keep your goals front and center as clients maneuver through this wellness and strengthening program.
Pelvic Health Physical Therapy
Pelvic Health Physical Therapy at Fitness Matter Grandview addresses issues with pregnancy, postpartum health, pelvic pain, bowel and bladder leaking-incontinence, constipation, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis, as well as pre-and post-surgical concerns, to name a few.
This therapy is beneficial in addressing hip and low back pain, core weakness, and dysfunctions like diastasis recti abdominis as well. In fact, many dysfunctions in the pelvic region can be addressed with Pelvic Health Physical Therapy.
Treatments are private, confidential, and one-on-one with your Pelvic Health Physical Therapist. Our team of Pelvic Health Physical Therapists have advanced degrees and certifications – and specialize in pelvic health therapy – while offering a very empathetic approach to your needs.
On your first visit for Pelvic Health Physical Therapy, an in-depth evaluation will occur to carefully identify factors contributing to your symptoms and conditions. The evaluation may or may not include an internal assessment to determine the strength of the pelvic floor and muscle positioning to support your organs.
After your evaluation, you and your therapist will discuss treatment options that may include: education on diet or activity modification, pelvic floor muscle retraining, behavioral management techniques, and home exercises. Postpartum Physical Therapy
When you are pregnant, the body goes through so many changes. It’s common to feel disconnected from your body postpartum. Whether you gave birth vaginally or via cesarean delivery there often isn’t a lot of guidance on how to safely return to the activities you enjoyed pre-pregnancy.
Postpartum Physical Therapy at Fitness Matters Grandview centers on empowering women in their recovery from birth. We treat postpartum pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, pelvic girdle pain, diastasis recti, back pain, pelvic organ prolapse, bowel and bladder dysfunction and any scar tissue concerns. We can also manage any new orthopedic concern as a part of your postpartum care. We take into account the various stresses on your body during this time, such as hormone fluctuations and sleep deprivation as these are important considerations in your recovery.
Ultimately, our highly trained Physical Therapists will ensure your postpartum plan of care is tailored to you, your goals and what is realistic during this time of your life.
Incontinence Physical Therapy
Incontinence, whether it be bladder or bowel, can be embarrassing and difficult to deal with. Some people think that it is just a normal part of life once you reach a certain age or after you have children. While it is common, it is not normal and it is not something that you should have to continue to deal with. Our Physical Therapists are highly trained to recognize and treat a wide array of symptoms associated with Incontinence and are passionate about helping clients find successful results.
There are different forms of incontinence and there can be several reasons that it is occurring. Some incontinence is more urge related which can go back to habits or the way we have trained our bodies. Other incontinence could be more stress related and be tied to coordination deficits of the pelvic floor and core muscles. Sometimes it can be both!
Your first visit with Fitness Matters Grandview will focus on identifying the factors contributing to your incontinence and discussing strategies to mitigate it. You can feel at ease discussing these sensitive matters in a private space and completely one on one with your Physical Therapist.
